Its been debated if Eddie's nick name should be Nice Guy Eddie instead of Fast Eddie because if there was a top ten of most genuine players this guy would be joint 1st with Tom Stirling. To say a bad word against this player would be a crime. I believe his only down fall is that an 80 year old man with arthritis in his one remaining hand could deal cards faster then Eddie.
Eddie debuted half way through the 2003 season and even finishing 3rd on his first appearance. When Eddie started the new season in 2004 it was being dominated by 3 main players Hamid, Cush & Cowboy Cairns. In a result to this it only realistically left 5 available places in the league for the rest of the players to qualify for the Cup Game, so Eddie’s real challenge that year was to compete against 25 other players to finish in the final Eight. With just 1 game to go Eddie was almost even on points with 9 other players, and with 5 qualifying spaces left things were looking good. Tragedy hit! Eddie was informed that the final game had to be moved to a different date and he would be unable to attend which would leave him in 9th place. Eddie attempted to get the game moved to an alternative date by appealing to the tournament director's (Cush) better nature. Unfortunately for Eddie he discovered that Cush did not have a better nature thus leaving him in 9th place and unable to compete in the League Cup Game. Eddie did try to Qualify for the Cup game in the Satellite game in which he would have to finish either 1st or 2nd. Unfortunately once again he fell short and finished 3rd.
Maybe 2005 will bring more luck to this player. I hope so and I am sure a lot of his fan's do too. - March 2005
