Match Report

The second league game saw another full house with all the players eager to make their mark on the tournament leaderboard.  Last month's winner Dave Cockbain was one of the first casualties of the game, eliminated by John Cairns (with the help of Jesus) with four 8s!

Cush has been a consistent winner/runnerup in the second monthly game in the past couple of years.  Cush has had high spirits for this game and was playing very aggressive style at the early stage of the tournament which is not his normal style and also stealing the odd pot here and there! However Cush's stack was crippled after losing a big pot holding AK on a Ace high board but Kal Singh was holding two pair with A7. Cush was later on knocked out holding A4 to Mark's KQ.

The finalists were: Andy McPeacke, Cookie, Craig, Dave Maudlin, George Lawther, Hamid Toghyan, John Cairns, Mark Alibai, Micheal Mclinden and Steve Young.

Players dropped out very quickly at the final table, Andy McPeacke was first to be knocked out followed by George Lawther, Steve Young, Mark Alibai and Cookie.  The newcomer Craig was accumulating a healthy chipstack, finding monster hands everytime Dave Maudlin had an average raising hand. However, Dave was more pleased with the fact that no one had made a bet on Craig since he had offered him odds of 33-1 !!! However, most of us weren't surprised at this performance because our game has a reputation of being won by the newcomer. Cookie was the next casualty followed by Micheal Mclinden.  The penultimate hand of the final came when Dave Maudlin moved allin for 10K and Hamid Toghyan looked down to find KK.  Hamid flat called the allin raise and to his surprise Craig quickly called the raise as well. Flop came 8 high and Hamid moved allin and Craig quickly called. Showdown: Craig 99, Hamid KK and Dave J 10. The turn and river brought no help to Dave and Craig giving a monsterous pot to Hamid who held 70% of the chips at this stage.  After a heated 3-way battle between Craig, John and Hamid saw John Cairns to be the 3rd place finisher.

After a 30 min of heads up battle, Hamid Toghyan won his first monthly game of this season holding AQ to Craig's QJ.
